Here’s an observation. We make up our own realities now. No one believes the NYT, Wapo, BBC, CNN, etc. Even though they still are capable of actual journalism from time to time.
People look at the video of Jonathan Ross murdering Renee Good and see that he was justified “she ran him over!” Other people see a murderer who then called her a “bitch” after he took her life. I am of the latter opinion and yes, so is the NYT, Washington Post, and the BBC.
We are stuck in ideological biases. Even if it was clear as day as was the case with George Floyd (Eric Garner, etc.) the other side (MAGA, Republicans) will look for ways to STILL deny what their ideology won’t let them accept. In this case they went with “he’s a criminal all black and brown people who get murdered by police MUST BE CRIMINALS!” They deserve to die is what they are saying. They didn’t obey even though there are countless cases of people “obeying” and still end up dead. These are the same people who think the 2020 election was stolen, THAT PEOPLE ONLY VOTED FOR OBAMA BECAUSE HE WAS BLACK, that climate change isn’t real, Trans people have a sickness, and are insanely and proudly anti-vaccine. They’d rather die from measles. I won’t even go into their Christian fundamentalist beliefs. Also, they’re happy to have Trump maul the White House and make it into a gaudy perversion because other presidents did renovations. Well I’m sorry bulldozing entire wings of the White House is a bit different.
I don’t bother discussing politics with these people for the most part.
